Marian and Mona Dogaru
Marin and Mona are the house parents for the family center in Targoviste, Romania. Two years ago they and the five daughters already living in the family center began praying for the Lord to send them the child he wanted them to raise. In November 2005 they received a call from the child protection services in Targoviste (DCF) asking if they could care for twins. They went to the hospital not knowing how old the children were or whether they were boys or girls. Just three weeks earlier Gabriel and Christian had been born and abandoned by their parents. In Romania, many children are abandoned in the hospital after birth and the child protection service works hard to place them with other family members. When that is not possible, the children are placed in a foster care home. In the case of Gabriel and Christian, they were the sixth and seventh children born to their parents and although the DCF has been looking for relatives who are willing to take them, no one has even come to see the children these past 18 months. Gabriel and Christian came home with Marin and Mona when they were only one month old where they became the sixth and seventh child at the family center.
